Your Role
In this role, you will support routine microbiology testing and laboratory operations under supervision.
Working according to established SOPs, you’ll assist microbiologists and senior technicians with daily testing activities, data entry, and laboratory maintenance—building practical experience with microbiological techniques while ensuring accurate, reliable results.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine microbiological testing on water, pulp & paper, and deposit samples
- Apply standard techniques such as serial dilution, spread plate, and pour plate methods
- Conduct microbial enumeration and accurately record results in the LIMS
- Support biocide efficacy studies and microbiological product testing
- Follow SOPs to perform quantitative and qualitative microbiology tests
- Assist with laboratory safety activities, equipment checks, preventive maintenance, and calibration
- Support documentation activities, including protocol drafting and record keeping
Qualifications & Experience
- MBO/MLO education required; HLO/HBO or Bachelor’s degree also welcome
- Up to 2 years of experience as a laboratory technician or in a related role is preferred
- Relevant laboratory coursework or associate degree may substitute for experience
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures
- Basic computer skills, MS Office, and data entry experience are a plus
- Motivated, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a laboratory environment
