Laboratory Technician – Materials & Deposits Analysis | Up to €37,000 per month | Leiden, Netherlands

Your Role
In this role, you will perform routine laboratory operations under supervision, supporting quantitative and qualitative analyses of deposits and materials from industrial systems.
Working according to standardized procedures, you’ll assist with sample preparation, measurements, equipment maintenance, and documentation—building hands-on experience with analytical techniques used in industrial and environmental laboratories.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine quantitative and qualitative laboratory tests according to standard procedures
- Prepare samples from water systems, pulp & paper, oil, and other industrial sources
- Use laboratory equipment such as ovens for drying and ashing, grinding machines, and pellet presses
- Prepare samples for analysis using X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and infrared spectroscopy (IR)
- Support membrane autopsies and related analytical tests
- Accurately document results, protocols, and activities in the LIMS
- Perform routine safety checks, preventive maintenance, and calibration of laboratory instruments
- Follow laboratory safety procedures and support ongoing safety programs
- Handle materials safely, including occasional moderate heavy lifting when required
Qualifications & Experience
- MLO or equivalent secondary laboratory diploma required
- Up to 2 years of experience as a laboratory technician or in a related role is preferred
- Relevant associate degree or laboratory-related coursework may substitute for experience
- Comfortable following standardized procedures and working under supervision
- Strong attention to detail and a safety-focused mindset
- Willingness to perform hands-on laboratory and sample preparation tasks
